Battle-armor sneak peek

We hope your holidays are going well, and that you are getting all that you want, and very little of what you deserve!  ;)

After the Skorpios preview we received a couple of emails asking "what's a Battle-armor?"  Well, I'll tell you; In the Spec-Sec world Battle-armor is an anthropomorphic armored "suit" that uses a master-slave waldo type control setup, most often augmented with limited direct neural interface for better fine motor control.  So, basically... it's a Landmate.

Here is a WIP of a 15mm scale Police Battle-armor used in dealing with heavily augmented cyber-psychos, full borgs, urban Drive-armor confrontations, and fighting with other battle-armors.  They cannot stand up to the sort of punishment a Skorpios can dish out, nor are they intended for true battlefield use, despite their type designation misnomer.  They just cannot carry the armor necessary.  But man are they agile...

Picture
Please note that the separate "master" arms and "bunny ear" A/V units are tacked on for show, but will be separate pieces.  The A/V units will come in versions with the sensors and lenses covered and extended, allowing the end-user to position them up, down, extended, flapping like wings, whatever.

Three poses will be part of the first release.  More are planned, of course, as well as other models.

Hope you like it!

Hmmm, I like the Landmate style design but the post pictured is a bit odd.

Is it too late to maybe get it changed to something a bit more "tactical"?

Hello Eli!

No worries Eli, there will be 3 poses in the first batch and the other 2 are much more "tactical". As this line is anime inspired we have chosen to have a mix of pose styles, some of which are much more action oriented than most people might be used to (but not quite as extreme as, say, some of the Infinity figures) but that are also useful. This particular pose shown is of the "minimal target profile" type, as though he is flat up against a wall or perhaps has just spun around to start firing. The main intent, however, is to show the front detail more clearly, including the "master" arms, as some of the other poses cover them up somewhat.

Will the one held be the only choice of weapon? Love the design though and same thought as Eli, look forward to the other more tactical poses. What kind of pricing are you thinking of?

At this time Tom we do not know. We have several alternate weapons in the works, but won't be able to finish them until we receive the sculpts. What we would like to do is release the 3-unit team with the base weapon and also offer a pack of other weapons, but as we want to release the first wave all together the other weapons may have to come later.

Pricing for individual units will be less than your average 28mm figure.

Holeee! That's sweet work Big-D. Love it.

The camera arms off the head could be a bit daintier, but I know that would be likely be trouble to master and cast....

Thanks Thomas!
The A/V units attach on the back/shoulder blade area. The shoulders are too wide for head mounted A/V units like a Borg can have, but that doesn't mean we aren't planning some!

I like the design as a whole. But the operator arms are far to long in my opinion. What's the point of them as the battlesuits arms are just a bit longer. The barrel of the gun is far to thick. It looks like a rocket launcher but the rest doesn't follow. But good work. Nice to see some 15mm anime/manga stuff.

Thanks Wouter.

The weapon shown is basically a small caliber (for a Landmate type mech) SMG with a hefty suppressor on it for urban and close confine use.

Now, the battle suits arms being just a bit longer isn't what makes the difference; it's their strength. The master arms are not augmented in any way, though they are armored. Their length includes the fine digit controls for the Slave hands and some ancillary relays and stuff. (translation: they looked funny at regular length when armored.)

Love it. Going to have to pick up a squad when they are released. Or two... or three.. heck, I guess I am going to build another 15mm army based around them.
