Like just about everywhere in the US, it's been cold here. Very cold! I have had a difficult time reacquainting myself with my airbrush due to my big-ole air compressor being bolted to the floor in the corner of my cold cold cold garage. So, it has taken some time to get the S'orhan all sprayed up. It was a real trial, with having to clean the airbrush every minute of spray time or so, but it is done! Below you will see one S'orhan worked up with airbrush, the other (a miscast) painted by brush. Sound off on which you like better! Full side: The pair. Da' rumps: The green for the visual sensors didn't come out as bright as I'd like it to be, nor did the red filter (oil paint) that I applied to the sprayed tank have as much effect as I wanted it to. Next time I will mix up Johnny Ridden Zeon Red and make them look Orkie Fast!

...upon them models! The Spec-Sec armored command truck has so far been brush painted with base colors and a little bit of ink. I've been waiting for some custom decals to arrive, but I'm starting to think they will not. Sad face. Well, at least I can get on with further detailing and weathering! figure from Blue Moon Manf is for scale. Love them dudes! For the Puma and S'orhan I've busted out the old airbrush. It's been too cold here for it to work effectively, but I've done what I can! The Puma too is ready for weathering , though I've decided to skip the filter beforehand (the S'orhan is still drying from filter application. I wanted something red so had to use oil paints. Can't tell the result yet, but here's to hoping!). Again, I have been waiting for decals, but am now pressing on. There is more to come, and updates as we go along! Remember, there is only 3 weeks left on the current pre-order. Get
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
We begin shipping out the pre-orders of the 15mm version of the Talin today, and they look fantastic! I hope you're as pleased with those you receive as I am! It looks like in a week or two we will be putting up the pre-ordrs for the 15mm versions of the Puma and S'orhan LODAV GIFVs. Just waiting for the test castes of the turrets (the hulls have already been test caste and are fantastic!). Also, the 3d print of the 15mm version of the Federation Scorpion has arrived, as well as some other goodies. The 3d models of the Kh'Erian/Kh'Erasin have been completed and will be sent off to print just as soon as the other two models for the Kickstarter are finished. These "other two" models are the beginnings of the first new factions for the Dark Star universe in quite a while, and I can't wait to reveal them! (but, have to wait till the KS gets going...) Should the Kickstarter we have planned really get rolling we have the Zirhan and Tiger LODAV GMBTs and the Kh'Lrion/Kh'Liran waiting in the wings as unlocks, and infantry begin sculpted up as well. This is going to be an awesome year! Hey y'all! I hope your holiday season has been a good one. The flu has hit like a hammer around here despite trying to avoid it like the proverbial plague. Tis the season!
So... the pre-order for the 15mm version of the Talin IFV is coming to a close at the end of the week. Orders will begin to ship out of here Monday. And a little bird told me the "big 'uns" might just be ready soon as well! As of 11:59 pm on December 15, the free stowage package deal for early 15mm Talin pre-orders has expired. Those who got their orders in during the first couple of days will receive one 22 piece stowage package for each individual 15mm Talin in their order. ...and let me tell you that's a LOT of stowage!
A BIG "thank you" to everyone that has made a pre-order so far, we really appreciate it! The 15mm version of the very popular FD24- Talin Wheeled IFV is now up for pre-order! Delivery will begin at the end of the first week of January, 2014, that way packages are not lost in the mail (as happened last year about this time...) The figure is there only for scale... This is an 11 piece kit: 1x resin hull, 8x metal wheels and 1x metal turret and 1x gun. And remember: pre-orders are slightly discounted, and any additional items ordered at the same time as pre-order items will not ship until the pre-order item is ready! >>>And here's a bonus!<<< All 15FD-24 Talin Wheeled IFVs pre-ordered between now and 11:59pm US CST on December 15 will come with a 22 piece stowage set, shown below. Keep your eyes on this space, as other pre-orders are coming up VERY soon.
The first releases for December for Spec-Sec and Colony-15 are now up on the store and available for purchase. So get on over there and check them out! (that is, if you didn't see the last blog posting. If you've already seen them then go buy some! They're pretty awesome!)
Oh, and since I neglected to mention it before, the new Spec-Sec minis were sculpted by Chris Elizzardo, and damn he rocks! Alas, we will finally be releasing some... er, new releases! ...just as soon as the webstore is fixed. (if it isn't one thing, it's another!) Without further ado, here they are (previewed)! For Colony-15 we have "15CL2 Colonist Adventurers with Respirators." Yep, these are the same figures as 15CL1, but now able to breathe during those Pale Wind storms or while tracking Zonii war-parties in the canyonlands. 5 pack for $4.00 USD. And we can't leave our brave Colonist Scout without a filter, now can we? "15CC3 Colonist Scout with Respirator." Single figure $1.00 USD. Don't think Spec-Sec is being left out! Agent Ionia is getting some backup! Meet Agent Diegylis, second in command of Spec-Sec Division 11. He's a lot stronger than he looks, thanks to an advanced synthetic combat body designed exclusively for injured Spec-Sec operatives, able to wield heavy weapons as if they were common small arms. And did I mention that he's still pissed about being mostly blown up by Satrae terrorists? Ya, remaining cells better be watching their backs... "15SS102 Agent Diegylis in Medium Intensity Armor" single figure $1.00 USD But what about when he's not on duty? Well, Agent Diegylis is a bit old school. He tends to wear comfortable clothing that went out of fashion half a century ago, drives an old Lancer sports car that is just about as old (coming soon!), and prefers to carry a hand-canon that was a trend 25 years after the last time his trademark mohawk was popular. Obviously our man Diegylis is not one to worry about blending in! "15SS103 Agent Diegylis Casual" single figure $1.00 USD Davus is what most people would consider an old man. Conscripted into the Rogarian Armed Forces in his late teens, Davus was thrown into the unforgiving meat grinder of the battle for Hostana City during the Grastam Intervention. Rogaria lost the war, badly, but after surviving day-to-day street fighting for three years Davus was "fostered" into the Ylkanii Special Services, where his body was severely damaged in a lifter crash during a combat extraction eighteen years ago. Because of his talents Davus was one of the first "new generation" fully conversion synthetic body recipients and his service continued for another decade before he "retired". Now a freelance coordinator occasionally employed by Spec-Sec, as well as some more nefarious groups, Davus keeps his old clunky prosthetic body as updated as it can continue to handle. "15SS104 Borg Davus" single figure $1.00 USD "Witnesses say that everything was normal before the incident. No hint of what was coming. The Doll just suddenly arched its back, flung wide its arms, and leaped onto the table screeching before tearing into the restaurant goers like some mad animal. Tell tales indicate that this was an older personal bodyguard model bought cheaply on the black market and reformatted for service industry performance, thus the extendible finger claws and enhanced reflexes. Agent Algol is running what few numbers we've found, but I'm pretty sure of it. There's no telling what set it off like that, maybe a regressive memory trigger or transgressed behavior pattern it detected which activated a buried subroutine, but we're not ruling out foul play or terrorist involvement, not with eighteen dead from this rampage..." "15SS401 Rampaging Geisha Bot" single figure $1.00 USD "It was HUGE! Like almost eight feet tall huge! And so quiet. It just sort of stole through the trees like a shadow then it was on them, flipping the command car like it was a toy and tearing it open with those claws. They didn't stand a chance. It was three, maybe five seconds before we could get over the surprise and start to fire at it. Guns popped out from hidden panels somewhere on that thing and it just mowed us down as it withdrew. I don't know if it was a Full Borg or a Combat Android, but I don't EVER want to see one again..." "15SS402 Type C combat borg #1" Single figure with separate arms $1.25 USD (two more poses are forthcoming) And there you have it. I will do mybest to get better photos for the webstore and maybe even paint a few, but i thought you'd like to see these critters as soon as they were ready. As soon as the webstore is repaired they will be up and announcements will be made! Since even in the future scientists have more common sense than to allow the "average Joe" to have their own personal jetpacks, the everyday citizen and foreign tourist still needs a way to get around the city. And I can already hear you say "but isn't that what taxis are for?" Yes. Yes it is. And here is your taxi of the Spec-Sec future: It's somewhat stylish, has both ground and air options, and seats about 20 so go ahead and bring your jukebox money.... sorry, got a little lost there! No, it actually seats 4-6, and can be human driven or robot-controled. Also doubles as the dreaded family minivan, and I'm sure some nefarious types might rig it for nefarious purposes, but we will see...
Oh, and it does appear that we will indeed be having a Kickstarter for the Dark Star 15mm line, after the initial 3 releases. This will allow a quicker release of vehicle models as well as figures for the Feddies, Vents, and them evil K-dudes. Rumor even has it that two new factions may be appearing. But you know how rumors are. Sometimes they're even true! ...nope, it's a Scorpion!
Say what? Yep, the 15mm version of the FD-24 Scorpion has been sent to be printed, joining some Spec-Sec vehicles in line. It will come with 2 weapons options: long barrel conventional canon and a large caliber autocanon, along with an ammo storage bustle addition. There will be a separate upgrade pack which will have both a rail gun and plasma canon (same as carried by the Puma LODAV GIFV) with a power generator bustle addition (which will replace the ammo stowage that comes with the kit). Now, word is that I will be receiving a few examples of the Puma, S'orhan and Talin before heading down to MilleniumCon in Austin. I was hoping to get them last week so at least one of each could be painted up but you'll be able to see them "in the raw" at the booth if you drop by. If no changes to the molds are needed they will be put up for pre-order the following week. Rumor also says that the upcoming 15mm stowage packs may also be ready and present, and I sure am hoping so or I will feel like a total boob! The packs will contain tools, bore cleaning rods (disassembled and racked), an assortment of back packs and boxes, camo netting, tarps, fuel and water cans, and maybe even hot food carriers and an ice-chest. I will of course post pix as soon as they are in my hands. Hope to see y'all in Austin on the 7th-9th! |
