So you saw the Police cruiser the other day, and figure "hey, that's cool. It's all curvy and smooth, and looks like it'd just slip through the air while chasing baddies." (or something like that.) And what happens after you've chased down said baddies, they wreck out and bail in a bad neighborhood and stir up the locals, maybe grab a hostage or two? Now you've got Trouble brewing and need to come down with a heavy hand. After all, who knows what sort of artillery they may have squirreled away in the ghetto... You call out The Wagon. It's big. It's armored. It can carry a whole mess of Coppers and a Drive Armor to boot! And boot they shall... This angry mother is over 12cm long and 4cm high, and can double and a post apocalyptic Winnebago! When smashing through burning tire barricades or shambling masses of zombies, why would you want anything else?
She's been sent off to the printer, so you'll be seeing her in hand reeeeeeaaaaaaal soon!

Wow, Wednesday already? Yep, late with the weekly updates, again... So I've mentioned that we are working on various things and stuff, and progress has been made. Take a gander at this: What you are seeing is a car. Yup, a car. But, it's also a flying car! And not just that, it can be a luxury civilian or Police car or flying car! Woop woop! Now, the vented thrust pods shown on the center car will not be part of the deal, but each vehicle will come with the police light bar, and both wheels and grav pods. Sort of looks like a Crown Vic on steroids, neh? Like it a lot! As many of you may recognize by the rendering this beauty was drawn up by the nefarious Charles Oines, and we all know he does great work. Even better: more from his fertile mind are in the works!
We will be releasing this vehicle with a bevy of police goodness all at once. ETA TBD. And before you ask, the figure is there for scaling purposes and is not going to be for sale. Remember waaaaaay back when we did that little poll for Spec-Sec? It may not seem like it, but we listened. The top two responses we received from the blog comments and emails (I still wonder why some people prefer to email their answers and questions rather than posting to the blog, but I digress....) were:
#1 More Police Fairytales...er, I mean Police Cars and stuff (bit of a Monty Py slip there, apologies, and I have just been sacked) #2 Rogue Borgs. So guess what? We've gotten some Police stuff done, and some borgs are just about done! What's that? You want to see them? Well.... naw. This is just a tease. When this next batch is all said and done and ready to go, we'll show you what they look like. Unless you twist my arm or shower me with lavish gifts (please do the later!), can't resist lavish gifts! The Zonii have been quite the popular critters since their introduction, outselling everything else we have released to date. And what's not to like? They're semi-primitive, look sort of scary, and ride ill-tempered beasties that are just as likely to munch sulfuric acid-laced native fungi as snack on meaty-delicious human colonists. There obviously needs to be more Zonii. There are more beast poses in the works, as well as new critters and "pack mule" versions of the original, but that's not enough. So sound off and let us know what you'd like to see for the Zonii, and we'll set to expanding the range! Look what arrived at DSG HQ in the mail today: Yup, those are the 15mm S'orhan and Puma on the left, and the Talin on the lower right. Shown with them for scaling are a 1/56 scale Stryker (painted on top left), an unpainted 1/100 scale Stryker (on right, above Talin) and a 15mm M48 tank. Also shown are their 6mm counterparts.
Yup, the Puma and S'orhan are BIG, but then again they are meant to bring whole platoons down from orbit and support them during an assault landing, rather than being employed in the traditional battlefield-taxi role, like the Talin. So, after a touch of cleanup these babies will be off to be caste. Look for them in a month or so. Their preparedness for sale will be heralded with much fanfare. What? 2 updates in one week? And on the 4th of July too?
Yep. And it's not even the Apocalypse. Here's another WIP for you guys and gals. Happy 4th of July! Be careful with those fireworks, they are not for oral consumption. Hey. How's it going? Hot enough for ya? Well, here's something cool for you to check out! Here are some quick and dirty shots of the 3d model of the 15mm version of the Venturian's S'orhan LODAV GIFV (to be SKU# 15VT2). We were hoping to have this round of masters printed, molds made, and castings ready to go for Historicon, but that is not seeming likely. But rest assured, as soon as the prints arrive, we'll post some photos! Till then, here's the raw model: Now, just so you know, we are presenting the model in "ground mode", meaning the airfoil at the rear of the top deck is retracted, and the troop rapid drop chutes are rotated outwards. Not shown are some of the additional details, such as crew steps, thin panel lines, textures and other "stuff".
We hope everyone had a safe, fun, and relaxing Memorial Day holiday! There was way too much BBQ around here, but at least we able to keep the Zonii riding beasts out of the pool and well fed without having to resort to tossing them unruly children... Hey, speaking of Zonii, today is the last day to get your entries in for the Zonii Dwelling Scratch Build contest. Hurry hurry hurry! fame and prizes await the winners!* (*the fame only applies locally and does not impart any national or global celebrity status. Not even a little.) Our good friend DFlynSqrl has sent some pictures of his painted Spec-Sec Response Team (medium Intensity). Check out them urban bases! And what about that Cyrillic 'E' on their shoulders? Rad. (why yes, we grew up in the 80's...why do you ask?) As always, there are more pix in the Gallery. We hope you are all working feverishly on your Zonii dwellings for the contest. We have had a few emails asking clarification on the rules, but also a few asking about when some of the 6mm Dark Star range will be making appearances in 15mm. They are truly coming, with work moving ahead on several of the designs concurrently.
The plan is to release them in groups of 6-8, with figure releases in between. Though several of the designs are complete we have not yet been able to get them all printed. It is a quite costly process... So, while we listen closely for the sounds of scratch building going on we present you with these two work-in-progress teaser pictures of a 15mm scale Puma LODAV GIFV. Don't get too excited now. |
